A very snug fit for my guitar, the Snark Tuner is a solid, dependable guitar tuner. I had my buddy give it a try and he had just as good of results as I have had over the past couple months of using it. Sometimes it’s hard for me to hear the slight flat tone my guitar often produces, but having a tuner that’s so easy to work with and accurate makes it a lot easier on someone like me, that doesn’t have the gift of finding the perfect pitch on the first try.

The Snark tuner has an easy to read digital readout, even works in bright natural light. I like to play outside on the beach when I head out camping with my friends and it works well, even in some of the humid climates we’ve camped in. Finding a pinpoint accurate guitar tuner isn’t easy and when I found this one, I was blown away, not just buy the good feedback it has, but for the price, I’m very pleased with the value.

The visual metronome feature is nice, I’ve used it when I’m teaching my nephew how to play and tune and the visual is a huge help to beginners, I’m trying to teach him to understand the basic principles and for the price, I’ve already bought one of the guitar tuners for him for his last birthday – a gift that he’s put to good use and appreciated, for a change. I like how simple the design is – it’s very basic, but has everything you need to tune your guitar properly.

Another very good point of the Snark tuner – it’s more than a chromatic tuner, it tunes well from any note, responds immediately to any pitch change and it’s pitch indication is crystal clear. I’ve used a few other guitar tuners in my day, but for the pure functionality of the device, this one is the most solid and reliable one I’ve found on the market – at a low to mid price range. Since many of the guitar tuners I’ve used in the past have been somewhat tempermental, I’ve learned not to shell out too much money, in case they don’t like up to their hype.

The metronome is a device that has long been used by musicians to ensure that they are playing at a steady tempo, and is very often used as a learning tool for those who are just learning to play. The old style metronomes were of a pyramid shape, and had a ticker that would move from side to side whilst keeping the beats per minute (BPM) at a steady pace. It’s a tool that been around for centuries, but it has been given a modern twist with the introduction of the Korg TM-40 Digital Tuner and Metronome.

As the name of the product suggest, the Korg TM-40 also included a tuning function that will ensure that the instrument sounds good whilst keeping the beat. The tuner has a detection range id C1-C8 (32.7hz to 4186.01hz), which means that it is perfect for any type of instrument from keyboard to string. The large built-in speaker produces a very clear ticking sound, which perfectly mimics the sound of a traditional metronome. Some have complained that the ticking can be somewhat of a distraction, but with multiple volume settings, the Korg easily allows players to settle on a level that suits them perfectly. Much like the tuner function, the metronome is perfect for all instruments and musical styles, thanks to the numerous functions that cover 0-7 beats per measure, as well as doublets, triplets, triplets with center beats omitted, plus much, much more.

The Korg metronome tuner features a large, bright display, with an LCD type needle for the metronome, and blinking LED lights that show pitch deviation and tempo. Best of all, the unit is small enough to be portable, and can actually fit snugly inside a pocket or purse, which is perfect for those who may be learning to play in a class setting, as well as at home. It’s also an incredibly reasonably priced unit, and by shopping at Amazon, it can be bought for under $25; all in all, a perfect stocking stuffer for someone who is going to be learning how to play an instrument in the near future. Simply put the tuner on the table next to you and turn it on. Play a string you want to tune and the needle will bounce to whatever pitch you are at. Look at the tuner indicator; it will tell you how close you are to the right pitch. Adjust the string’s tuning key accordingly. Repeat this procedure for all six strings of your guitar.
